Description
In rising stem valve applications, typical materials include carbon yarn, an Inconel wire jacket or braided flexible graphite. These materials provide a great wiping system but stem friction caused by the wiper can actually increase the size of the actuator. EGC has developed a methodology for using effective wiping rings without enhancing the incidence of stem friction. The integral wiper is encircled directly into a pocket at the top and bottom corners of the packing set directly adjacent to the rising stem. This procedure places gland loading on the sealing rings where you need them and away from high-friction wiping. This product is an excellent option for both rising stem valve applications where actuation force is a challenge and friction-critical control valve balance seals.
