Description
Many stem seal designs use a single or a combined material style for a specific set of operating parameters. We’ve chosen the most popular styles and their recommended use for your design. They include: Die-molded rings are the most widely used as seals in valve applications; for precision rings, die cut laminated rings are made from sheets of laminated and cured Thermafoil; die cut and coined laminated rings are constructed just like laminated rings but are coined for high density, precision applications; Tri-Clad rings are die-molded or die cut while “clad” in metal foil which provides and seal integrity; Thermabraid 6000 is a high-density, die-molded seal used in anti-extrusion rings; graphite and carbon yarn rings (supplied as end rings for packing sets) provide an anti-extrusion benefit and should be used in pressures exceeding 500 psi and provide a wiping action which cleans the valve stem(used in rising stem control valves). Caution should be exercised when using this type of product in very high pressures.
