Bernie Casamento, Bob Rutherford and silent partner Bill Lockhart began EGC in 1978 as a fluid sealing company. It was during a time when asbestos was on the decline and a new product from Union Carbide Corporation, called Grafoil®, was on the rise. Granted the seventh license to manufacture and distribute Grafoil Flexible Graphite, we began as a supplier to original equipment manufacturers.

In the mid-80s, the market was overcome with a wide range of sub-standard products, primarily from offshore locations. Created under very strict guidelines and specifications, Thermafoil® (an EGC branded product) was developed to ensure all customers received the absolute best material available.

Always an engineering company, EGC collaborated with NASA in 1998 to design and patent a thermo-electric in-flight ice protection system. Named Thermawing,™ the system ultimately received FAA approval, and its three-year project led EGC to the development of Q-Foil industrial thin-film heaters and new markets, including food service and medical equipment.

Since rocketing out of the 2008 recession, EGC has reported strong performance and growth with an impressive expansion of our infrastructure, products and marketplace. Under new ownership as of 2015, our leadership team remains committed to driving business to the next level. One that will, of course, continue EGC’s long history of innovation and custom-based solutions.
