Stem packing and gaskets: The VSG equivalent of “would you like fries with that?”

But pressure seals are not our only area of expertise. What else, you ask, can EGC do when you are faced with a leaking valve?

Is faulty packing posing a problem? Look no further than our VSG ProPack stem packing. It’s composed of two, Inconel-jacketed end rings and a pure graphite center ring. The end rings prevent graphite from extruding, while also acting as wipers to keep the shaft free of debris, which can score, pit or corrode your valve stem. And, our center rings are made of 100% pure graphite which contain a corrosion inhibitor for added protection. EGC’s proprietary ProPack design requires no tooling and as a result, can ship with your VSG pressure seal OR on their own in 48 hours or less. As with the pressure seal, simply provide the data and we’ll manufacture a custom packing set.

For bolted bonnets and other valve cavity recesses, we also design and manufacture high-purity Thermafoil gaskets. Gaskets are available reinforced with stainless steel or Inconel to stand up to extreme temperatures and pressures. The high-strength graphite laminate material is resistant to blow-outs, is fire safe and can handle internal pressures of up to 3,000 psi. In other words, you get a gasket that delivers a leak-free seal over a range of operating conditions and clamping loads.

Where application conditions do not require the use of graphite, we can still help. EGC manufactures packing sets and gaskets using PTFE and other non-asbestos materials. So, no matter what your operating environment, we have the technical expertise and materials to provide a solution.
